The Maafa begins with the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and the colonization of Africa the Carribean Islands. The Maafa also consists of the murder, torture, and rape of enslaved and so-called “free” African people in the United States including what took place during the horrible injustice of slavery, lynching, Jim Crow, the degrading depiction of Blacks through minstrel shows and coon imagery, the murderous tactics of police enforcement, the Prison Industrial Complex, the Diamond Industry's continued devastating effects on parts of Africa and the promotion of Diamonds in the United States, the substandard education offered to Blacks in the United States, and the lack of employment opportunities and political representation for us.
